Just wondering?

What happens to all the recalled meat?

WASHINGTON, March 9, 2010 - Windsor Foods, a firm with operations in Lampasas, Texas, and Oakland, Miss., is recalling approximately 1.7 million pounds of ready-to-eat (RTE) beef taquito and chicken quesadilla products that may be contaminated with Salmonella. The packages of beef taquito and chicken quesadilla products contain as an ingredient the specific Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein (HVP), which was previously recalled, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.

Look carefully my friends....that's 1.7 million pounds in one day for one recall!

Once I opened this link I couldn't stop reading the warning letters. It's addictive and scary.

I had no idea this is going on and these are the ones that got caught.

A friend was visiting in Colorado and became violently ill and ended up in the hospital for 24 hours.
His wife happened to see a huge recall two weeks later and absolutely knew it was the culprit. (Her husband is no small guy and ended up incapacitated from it for nearly a week.)

How come the doctors had no idea in the emergency room about the products that were recalled that same week in that state.
